I had this issue when I was trying to get my Q10 when Rogers was taking there sweet *** time with the launch in my city, and it looks like I'll have to deal with it again for a Z30.

Every time I went into a store to try and to buy a phone outright from another carrier, I was told I would only be able to buy it outright if I sign up for a month - to - month plan. I also tried places like Futureshop and WirelessWave and was told that they would only sell a phone on a new contract.

Koodo apparently is great for buying phones outright, but there hasn't been any word on whether or not they will be selling the Z30. Any help would be much appreciated.

Well rogers is selling the z30 online only. So.... they may have it off contract there.

you need to goto a official rogers corporate store/kiosk to buy it outright. Resellers like FS, BB, wireless wave etc do not sell to you outright because they dont make money off the device purchase but on the contract you sign up for.

I'm going to try Target. I've heard they will sell off contract ( except Apple).

I will likely get the bell version and unlock it since Rogers will slow roll the process. I think they are saying they will carry it online to shut people up.

I got my Z10 from Walmart (yeah I know) off contract but locked to Telus. Not sure if they'll have the Z30 but I'll get a Telus unit from a corporate store I suppose.

How do you know if it's a corporate store or not? They all say Telus above them.

Because Rogers is lame and haven't figured out when the z30 will be available I am going to get mine from Bell and unlock it.

From the sounds of it it should be easy. You go to a store and buy the phone with a 30 day plan. The cheapest one bell had was $27. At the time of purchase you pay full price ($700) and then cancel your plan and unlock it.
