Well the 'real' story is they were sitting around fixin to smoke, and they had Juicy Jay Blackberry flavored rolling papers. Thus the name Blackberry.

Another name that was on the list was Outpost and some wanted to keep the beta name PocketLink. When I first heard the list of names BlackBerry was the one I liked the least. Since I was going to have to sell it I wrote an email to several execs begging them to reconsider
I tried to get eGo on the list as I thought it would be cool to say 'Hey do you have an eGo?'
One of my California clients flew up and begged we reconsider as he said lawyers would never use something called BlackBerry.
Now I can't imagine it being called anything else.
