    Hi guys,

I recently bought a new battery for my Bold (9000), as my old original one no longer holds a good charge. I was wondering if there is a good way to tell if the battery is counterfeit or not? I read the thread posted (the one with pictures) but unfortunately, I don't see a picture of the 'lock' icon at the top of the battery.

However, I have compared the two batteries I have. The new one is slightly thicker than the one I got with the phone, and the icon is different (it has a flat top for the keyhole, instead of a round one). Additionally the text on the back has a different font than the one on the original battery. I know the battery has a 'cryptographic chip', but is there any way for me to test it?

Usually who you bought it from is a pretty good indication if its an OEM or aftermarket battery. Counterfeit is a harsh word for an aftermarket battery.
