I know this has nothing to do with BB except the Canada connection....just woke up to news of a 7.7 earthquake in Western Canada.
Don't know if it's unusual to have such earthquakes there; just want to send good thoughts your way...

Not so unusual in this area, M7.7 - 139km S of Masset, Canada 2012-10-28 03:04:10 UTC but it could generate a tsunami.

Talked to my son in greater Vancouver....they did not feel the shocks, and had some warnings about possible Tsunami activity. They were MUCH smaller than anticipated. Thankfully. Just as a matter of record. Its the same San Andreas fault that goes through California.

Thanks for the thoughts Q. Couldn't feel anything here in Vancouver (we're quite a way's south from where it hit) though a couple of my friends who live in apartments buildings say they felt swaying.

A good reminder to all in the Pacific Northwest that the "big one" is suppose to happen at some point in the future...

Somehow I didn't think of Canada as an earthquake area, but it's true that the San Andreas runs all the way there.
Good to know there was no heavy damage. A 7.7 is not something to ignore.

I follow the earthquake advisory twitter feed from the government of Canada and there have been hundreds of aftershocks all day yesterday - ranging from 4.0 to 6.3.

The tectonic plate they are on is overdue for its "big one" and when it hits, BC will be in trouble.
