    Just download the device OS from your carriers website and install it. Should install with all original apps.

    Please do. And when you are in DM make sure you put a check in
    the BBM box. Oh and also attachment services (so you can read
    email attachments)

    Good Luck.

    Sounds good. I'd like to hear the results. Also, have you have successfully upgraded, with the device plugged in: Open the DM> select the Backup/Restore function and back the device up and save it somewhere that you remember and is easy to get to. It's always good to back up your device once a week or so, and definitely after a upgrade/downgrade & after you download a new application. GL.

    These are going to be a dumb questions, but after you downloaded
    the file, did you install it?

    Is this phone branded to your carrier or unlocked from another carrier?

    And was it this what you d/led:

    Software For BlackBerry Pearl (TM) 8100 smartphone

    BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.1.179 (Multilanguage)

    Package Version: 4.2.1.179
    Consisting of:

    * Applications: 4.2.1.108
    * Software Platform: 2.3.0.85
    * File name: 8100M_PBr4.2.1_rel179_PL2.3.0.85_A4.2.1.108_F100_( Digicel).exe
    * File size: 73.27MB

    And although you should not have to, did you delete the vendor.xml file as the instructions detailed?

    Sorry that was my fault. I forgot you were going directly
    to the carrier site.

    3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

    Close everything, restart your PC.
    While PC is rebooting take your battery out while
    the phone is on, leave out for 30 secs and put it back.

    When both are back up, try again.
