    Hi Crackberry,

I am currently a 9900 user and I've had my phone since Sept 2011. As some of you guys know, Rogers have 3 year contracts and you are allowed to renew your contract in 2 years by sealing another 3 years and getting a new phone. I want to get a Z10 and it's not been fully 2 years yet. Is there any way for me persuade Rogers to not pay penalty for not using up my 2 year contract and just pay for the Z10 by sealing another 3 year contract?

Rogers let me get upgrades a year after my hardware upgrade. I think its because of how much money I am giving them though

Yeah. It depends oh good of a customer you are. If you have paid always on time and have been a customer for like 7 years they probably could do it. One good bet is to go into a store and just convince a rep and just keep asking and they will look you up then ask a manager and maybe even call it in and it could work. Just depends if the money is there

They told me to call the customer service. I was with Fido for 3 years and with the 9900, I'm now with Rogers. It's not been a year yet, I was on a government contract from my work place (I don't work in the government, it's just a work/retention plan that was subsidized) Paying about 50 dollars per month. I guess my credit's not there yet? What should I say when I call customer service?

I don't think it is something that you can work out with them. Either you can upgrade or you can't

Call Rogers - select the prompts to cancel a service, select wireless - right now there's a lot of really good promos to cut your early upgrade fee in half, etc, Just call and tell then what you want to do - I haven't heard of a single bad outcome from that lately. Even myself on my personal account, I called in after re-signing a contract late last year (believe it was September) and they gave me $200 off each of my lines I wanted to upgrade.

^ yup. You need to call in and say you will quit. They put you through to retentions. Those people are able to help you out more so.

I'm in the same boat. Bought my 9900 in December 2011 on a 3 year contract. Called them up last night, the offer was $189 for the phone, $299 early upgrade fee, $35 activation fee and $50 credit +tx came out to $542. When I asked about cacellation, they slashed the fee by half to 149.

Would need to sign another 3 year contract...but given I haven't paid a dime for the 9900, and the z10 sells for 599..is $350ish for upgrade a steal? I assume I can keep my 9900 and sell it? Or do I need to turn it in for the upgrade?

My buddy at work had the same issue with rogers. They wanted him to buy out the remainder of his contract which was about 200 dollars plus pay the 150 for the Z10. Just so happened that TELUS was offering the Z10 free on a 3 year term on a corporate plan (which is amazing! ) anyway he called rogers and explained how it was cheaper for him to buy out his contract and go with TELUS. As soon as rogers heard that they dropped the 200 contract termination fee amd he only had to pay the 139 for the z10.
