Hello there. After 18months of my iPhone 3GS it's time to say goodbye to contract phones and hello to keypads!

So, I want a blackberry mainly for the keypad and BBM.
There are so many types, I don't know which to choose!

I will mainly use the phone for browsing webpages and twitter on the train, listening to the radio, and twitter.

Camera is not important to me as I won't be using it.
As much as I love getting the latest phone, I'm a student and kindof really want a basic phone.

Also, I use my phone a lot at night and want to be able to use the phone without it clicking or being noisy each time I press a key.

    Please suggest a phone! Thanks!

Where are you located and with what carrier are you? Will need to know to narrow down the choices.

Get an os7 device. If they have the Bold 9900/9930 jump all over it. It's awesome!

Thanks. I've checked the 9900 but its really pricey, I don't know if it's worth it. I can afford it but I don't know if I want to invest that much into a phone. (460)

Please let me know what you think

Go for a Torch 9810. I have the 9900 and it is an awesome phone ..but you might miss the screen size coming from the iPhone. The keyboard is no where near as nice though but it is still good.

    I agree.
Coming from an iphone (or if you value screen real estate like me) get the Torch 9810. The specs are similar to the Bold but you also get a bigger screen and a keyboard.

If you absulutely do not care for the physical keyboard then get a Torch 9850.

If cost is a serious issue then get a Curve 9360.

The best way of doing it is to fiddle with them instore as well.

I agree with the posters about with the Blackberry Torch 9810. Its really cool looking and it's both touch screen and full qwerty keyboard. I just got one and I love it so far.

I love my 9810, that said, I would like to monkey around a bit on a 9900 to see what the hoopla is all about.

In the end though, I think I'll stay with the 9810, the larger screen is awesome, specs are pretty much equal, and I couldn't go wrong with the price. $52.00US after taxes over here across the pond. I even kept my unlimited data plan!

O2 just launched the latest Curve with BB7 OS. That would be a good intro to BB.

Since you mentioned wanting to save some money I would suggest the Curve 9360.

I think the Curve line in general is a good entry point for first time BB users. I know I love my Curve 8530 and am glad I went with that a year ago because I hadn't really had a smartphone before and never a BB so I was hesitant to go for a more expensive one in case I didn't like them . Luckily it's been very easy and fun getting the hang of it.

With that said now that I know I can use a BB and now that I enjoy them so much the 9900 Bold is amazing. I had to go play around with it in a store even though my contract isn't up for another year and a half! Such a fun keyboard.

I think you have a lot of options though which is great. Read up on the ones you are seriously considering and if possible go handle them and see which one you like best.

    Good luck

I'm not sure the 9810 is what you want if a keyboard is important to you. I've had a Torch and was not impressed with the dual keyboard. If you can, go for the 9900/30 because the keyboard is great and you'll have a great browsing experience. If it's too pricey (and you can't want for it to come down in price) then see if you can get a 9780. The browser won't be as quick, but you're messaging/phone will be as good. Good luck with whatever you choose!
