I wonder if it has any sort of tangential relationship to the Egypt unrest?
i cannot find any media outlet covering this outage? Perhaps because it's a Saturday and the media honchos aren't working??!?!

Remember, as long as you have a data connection you can do:

    Text
    PIN
and if you are on gmail, use the browser to get to www.gmail.com and login there, for AOL it would be webmal.aol.com etc. etc.

so if you really need to get mail, use your browser.

What would a North American BIS outage have to do with something happening almost half a world away?

Every time there is an outage, RIM seems to play it down.

Remember - the FBI and CIA all use Blackberries extensively so this must be a BIG deal.

Because it is a worldwide outage, all mail feeds through Canada and there is always the possibility.
Remember, the Internet connects the world, the Egyptians cut off the Internet and there are all sorts of inter-related things from a security perspective that could happen.
They may have done something that rebounded back to RIM's servers and RIM had to protect itself by taking it down.

apparently the outage affects RIM too since I sent an email to the help at rim.com address & got this message in return!

Your post was post 28. Post 2 is on the first page of this thread (and it is the post just after post 1 and before post 3)!
Which refers specifically to AT&T. Why would I think that implies a system-wide outage.

    Why are you so rude?

I am on Sprint in PA and haven't had any emails or facebook notifications since last night at around 11pm, but BBM is working fine.
OK I just started receiving 2 emails - so it must be really slow.

Down since 0300 on VZW in Buffalo. A test message sent through my blackberry.net account failed to go through. BBM working fine.

At noon, one of my email accounts started to let stuff through. All two of them. It is a low volume email account for me.

Rogers in Vancouver....email seems to be working, but really slowly. Got a flood of emails this morning from all accounts, but it's definitely not instant push this morning. Send an email to my Gmail account 5 minutes ago and still no sign of it. Even resending my service books took way longer than usual.

I just had several emails come in. I don't know if its a permanent restoration of service or if things are still sporadic like some have reported though.

Started receiving emails again on T-Mobile in CA. Emails are coming in very slow though.

I sent a test message and got it about 15 mins later. I'll test again in a bit and if there is any change I will update my post.

T-Mobile customer service had no idea about the outage when I called in at 9am this morning.
