I miss the 8700 sometimes. What a sexy device. Too bad the browser was awful, but the color screen, scroll wheel, even the design at the time was forward-thinking (in my mind).

Scroll wheel IMO was a great idea! So simple and easy to use one handed.

Have you ever decided to buy an old legacy device online for kicks? Just to see what it's like to have a device you missed or couldn't have before? I'm having the urges to buy up a 9000 for $20 lol. What about you folks? I'm so curious but could I really be the only one?

I did with the Nokia 8600 Luna.
It's my backup phone for 3rd world countries and the case of an EMP destroying our smartphone infrastructure.

I bought an old used 9780 for 40 bucks because I wanted to see if I'm able to adopt to an PKB device.

Im coming from a xperia device - aiming the classic.

The 9780 was one of my favorite BlackBerrys. For $40 I'd get another one, just to have as a memento.

I'll never forget the first time I held a Blackberry device. The scroll wheel was the first thing I noticed, and how easy it was to scroll through a calendar and add/edit events was incredible. Like nothing I'd ever seen.

And that inbox co-mingling text messages and emails? I was sold.
Agreed! Def something that no other phone had done.

Are there any major differences between the 9780 and the 9700 other than the processor and memory? I always wanted one but I'm cheap. I can't find it in me to buy a candy bar for 99 cents let alone another phone when I don't need one :/. Just an acquired characteristic over time. I actually used to buy anything I wanted as soon as I had the money without a second thought. Now? I save all my money. Wish I could find it in me to buy a 9700 or a passport!!

I'm enjoying my brand old 9000 though that came in the mail recently. Feel like that's enough of a gift for myself lol. I can afford a passport. But like I said, can't find it in me to make such a purchase
