I start a new position on Monday and the company I'm going to passes out Pearls. I love my Curve and don't want to give it up but was told I using it is not an option. I have never used a Pearl and don't know much about them. How much different are the two and how bad am I going to hate the switch?

a few weeks ago i was so down and out broke that i actually thought about downgrading from my 8830 to a pearl just to get $125 back to pay bills...i was still within my first month of phone use so it was still possible...but i toughed it out and kept my 8830...from what ive seen and used my friends pearls, i definitely would have done it and you shouldnt be totally disapointed.

As everyone said, you won't be disappointed. Its slim, sleek, and fits in your pocket. I love it!

Isnt the pearl the phone that use have to actually have to press the button twice sometimes to get to a desired letter? ex qw, er and ty would be on the same button. I think that would be a big difference.

The only real difference is going to be the switch from QWERTY to SureType. Once you are used to the latter, however, you'll find that it's rather easy to use.

No...in fact it's quite the opposite! The SureType allows you to ht keys only once and based on the combination of letters you put in, it fgurres out the word you're ultimately going for!

What I like about SureType is I don't even have to add in the apostrophe on words like I've, Can't, etc., it adds it in for me!!

Good luck with that, i would kill for my Curve!!!

Also, VZWBBNewb, My curve also adds apostrophes for me, as well as many "other" not-so-smart phones. I love that feature!, only word it doesn't do it for is I'll, because ill is also a word. lol

Is your Curve work issued and they would take it and reissue the Pearl to you?

    Personally I don't like suretype.

I love the Pearl, and SureType isn't at all a negative for me. I use the keyboard as QWERTY and only about one word in 100 is guessed wrong. I can type VERY fast on it. I've handled my friends' Curves and I honestly prefer the Pearl and hope to never have to change.

All I have to say, to this, is 'why'? Why, on EARTH, would a business require a damned girl phone for it's primary information device? Wait, you didn't say what kind of company it is...it's not an escort service, is it?

It is, indeed, a nice phone. Had one, before the Curve. Can't live with the ST crap, though. Takes me ten minutes to type, one sentence, that way. And, considering how much I type...that's not a good thing. It is pretty, though!

I have a 7100 and have the SureType, and borrowed a full QWERTY at one point. Honestly, I prefer the SureType as it acts as a spell checker for me a live on the fly spell check!

There's pros and cons- the camera isn't as high pixel as the Curve, and the Curve is just more HOSS and doesn't show wear and tear as easy. But functionally speaking, you'll probably make the cross fine

LOL that's awesome! I have the reverse problem! It takes me eons to type on full QWERTY and seconds on the SureType!

Try typing il. My 8830 will change il to I'll. If that doesn't work add it to your custom word list.

I've never had Curve-lovin' so I can't really say which is better. Who knows, I could cheat on my Pearl and have the Curve on the side...
