My free Telenav trial period is up tomorrow. Has anyone tried any other service like Garmin or one of the free ones

I have found Garmin works well with the 8900. I have installed AmAze and will give it a shot tomorrow. Just trying to find a less expensive option for gps.

I'm still on my Telenav trial and I'm liking it so far. Let us know how the others compare once you've made a decision!

Used my 30 day free trial with Telenav and thought it was excellent, but decided not to purchase.

Tried amAze and Nav4all, both good but not great for UK navigation.

Ended up with Telmap Navigator 4 as a free beta user for 1 year... so far I'm loving it

I used Mapquest Navigator on my 8320 and emailed their support to find out if there is a compatible version for the T-Mobile 8900. They responded today that currently there is not a version of Mapquest Navigator that will work with the 8900 but "...we will be releasing a version of our software compatible with this device in the next two months. "

Guess I'll keep my account active til then.

have you tried mapquest 4 mobile beta? it's free and it's pretty good. no voice, but it's got very accurate directions.

    or OTA http://m.mq4m.com

nav4all is alright as well, it's free and does have voice.

I use nav4all in the UK and think its great for a free app

The on screen graphics and voice for roundabouts is a bit misleading but as soon as you relise that the number on screen next to the roundabout is the exit you need, your ok!

Amaze is pretty good for a free app. But I like TeleNav better because it says the street names so you don't have to look at the screen.

You can always try MGMaps, also 100% free, and it allows you to use stored maps, even without a data plan!

I love Google Maps for a free app, but it doesn't have turn by turn directions you would want if you are driving.

Amaze GPS works well enough but the search engine will not work in the US, at least it will not work on the copy I have on my 8900

I'm not seeing the 8900 listed, are you using Telmap Nav4 with your 8110?

Nope, choose the 9000 Bold option... it works a treat on the 8900

I have been using google maps, and since it keeps track of your current location always it works pretty good. You can switch between step by step directions and the map view with the push of a button. Its pretty nice.

I have been using AmAze, as I posted earlier and it works fairly well, I'm thinking about trying Telmap navigator if it works in the US - we don't have many roundabouts. I have Google, but want a voice service for driving directions.

I know Windows Live Search has turn by turn directions. Not sure if it is working properly on the 8900 though.

    Does anyone have any updates?

I downloaded both amAzegps and Nav4all. I used Nav4all this evening on my way to get my son from Day Care and amAzegps from the Day Care home. They both worked great with very precise directives. I'm partial to amAzegps though because of the look and features although I wouldn't be paying much attention to the screen while driving. Thanks for the info, as usual, fellow CrackHeads!
