nop. I'd stick with my Bold 9900, and maybe fool around with an iPhone for its Camera and Video, and maybe gaming.

Nope, because if I wanted an Android phone, I would have bought one instead of my first BlackBerry......

Not sure exactly. My first two phones were Nokia and I never had any issues, ofcourse they had no real features to have issues with. My fourth Phone was a Pear, and for the past roughly five+ years all i have known is BlackBerry. My wife has a GS3 and she laughs at me when I try to use it. I am sure I could learn it, but might have tried a windows phone first thinking it would be more like windows that I am farmilier with. I am sure i will have some learning to do anyway with my Z10 when it comes at the end of the month. But short answer longer ....probably not.

They'd have to sell it to me well so that it wasn't just another Android phone, or else I might have looked into another one of their flagship phones

No. I've seen andoid and, as with Linux on a PC, I don't want that "thing" anywhere near me.

I would have tried a WP8 phone or and iPhone, if I were to figure out a way to get rid of iTunes...

So, no my next Smart Phone will be a Z10 running BlackBerry 10

Not a chance. It would have just been another Android player then. Even Blackberry could not add security to the Android platform to anywhere near the extent they have in BB10. The whole BB multitasking experience would also not be possible. None of the exciting future possibilities BB10 platform would exist either.

If BB10 had been "Android" it wouldn't have been BB10... but I will rephrase and answer the rephrased question.

If the next generation BB Smartphone had been and Android device with custom BlackBerry-only apps, would I have bought it?

No, because I don't believe that customized Android makes any sense, despite the success of the Galaxy SIII... If the Galaxy SIII was running stock Android, it would be a better phone.

I would probably have stuck with my BB7 device a while longer until a decent full-keyboard Torch-like Android device was released by Samsung or Motorola or whoever... in the end, it will probably just be Samsung and Motorola (Google) putting out Android devices anyway, so the smartphone market in 5 years would probably have been something like Heuwai (however that's spelled) and ZTE from China, Samsung, and Google (rebranded from Motorola)... and Apple doing iPhone.... and somehow Windows Phone still existing even if Microsoft has to build the devices themselves (after acquiring Nokia for a bargain basement price).

With BB10 being QNX-based, it stands a far better chance of success than if it were Android... if it were based on Android, after rolling my eyes and shedding my tears, I would have accepted that yet ANOTHER iconic Canadian brand was doomed and moved on... but as it is, they DIDN'T doom themselves, I DID buy a Z10, which I love, and I DO see a bright future for BB strategy, platform, and devices.

The only other OS I was ever a fan of was WebOS which BB10 took a lot from and improved upon.
Same here. First with the PlayBook, but far more so with BB10, it feels like BlackBerry 10 is finally a proper improvement on and continuation of what was my favourite mobile OS.

Is this a serious topic....if it was Android I would have just gotten a GS3 or now the 4, specs are better...I chose BB because of the OS and how it works....I do not like Android or how it works...so...NO!!!
