And it's about the herd mentality. Remember the original commercial...it was about breaking out of the herd...now Apple is the herd.

Interestingly Apple was overtaken by Microsoft again last year. After it stopped publishing sales numbers it was obvious they are in decline. They have been there before though.

More than just phones I find myself questioning any new purchase.. is it needed or do I just want it? just because?

The most recent example is I'm tempted by the Lightphone2. The idea of going back to a dumb phone as a secondary device appeals... do I need it? No.

The same question will apply if and when a Key3 is released. I have no real need for 5g, quad HD, DSLR quality cameraphone. I will still fancy one though... magpies eh? ;-)

If you're thinking about going to a dumb phone just because, then might as well get a Classic or something since the OS is heading there anyway lol...

...except it won't give you the legendary battery life of a dumb phone.
