My Pearl's GPS is really unreliable. If it has been more than a few hours since a hard reset, the GPS won't respond. Even shortly after a reset, i have to do a manual refresh on the GPS from Tools->Advanced->GPS. Even then, it will sometimes never respond. Do I have a bad unit? It doesn't matter if I am outdoors or not, it seems like the GPS chip just gets stuck after a short while. I am running OS 4.5 with everything up to date, and the same behavior happened before updating to 4.5.
IIRC I'm running the newest OS, and I have yet to get my GPS to work. It was never a big deal to me, but you're one up on me. Sorry I don't have any good advice
