When the GPS is enabled in "Options">"Advanced Options">"GPS", and there are no applications requiring the GPS functions currently running, is the GPS in a stand-by power mode, powered down, full power or what. I'm hoping that the power drain is equivalent to the "911" mode and will switch to "ON" if requires by any GPS bases app is running.
Does anyone know for sure? If what I hope RIM did is right then there is no need to turn OFF the GPS from the "Options" menu. It'd save fumbling around when I need Google Maps in a hurry.
