I just picked up a 8310. I'm a convert from Windows Mobile and have a question about the GPS. Are there any apps that will do any sort of GPS mapping or positioning without a data plan?

Google maps. It doesn't do the full on GPS showing you a first person point of view driving but it does give you a birds eye view maps of where you are moving and turning. Works 100% of the time for me when I don't have my Garmin with me.

Google Maps will not do GPS without data. It needs data to download the maps.
