Several months ago I found a Bold 9000 on the street; it was missing the SIM card, so I called Rogers to see if anyone reported it, and there was no match with the IMEI, so they basically said bring it to us and we'll resell it or do what you want with it. Being an existing Rogers customer, I put the SIM card from my iPhone into it and it works great.
My question is, the GPS doesn't work well, and I'd like to know why. When I open maps, it can pinpoint me just fine, but it can't plot directions, and when I scroll around to try to find more of the area, it won't load.
FourSquare and Gowalla both do not work, can never pinpoint me, inside or outside. Pictures do not get geotagged at all, either, even though all location services are on, and every program has permission.
This occurs whether I'm on a WiFi network or over the Rogers 3G network, with full service.
All the software/hardware has been upgraded. Anything that's current is on the Bold.
Unless you mean physically upgrade the device, then I'll just swap the SIM card back to my iPhone and use it for anything GPS-based; can't justify purchasing a new BB for no real reason.
I downloaded it 2 days ago and love it. Follow the directions on the sticky at the top of the 9000 forum page. It is really easy. I have done 2 so far.
