Perhaps I am missing something but does the GPS have to be manually turned on before using GPS enabled apps? On my Curve, the apps were able to enable GPS and disable it when no longer running. With the Bold it seems that I either have to leave GPS on all the time or manually turn it on whenever I want to use an app like Mapquest Navigator. Am I missing something????

There shouldn't be a problem with leaving GPS enabled all the time.

Thank you for the reply. I am concerned that my battery would drain too fast if I keep the GPS on all the time, especially if it goes into a searching mode (i.e. while I am in a building).

Also, you should consider a second battery in general. Every bb owner should have one

The gps doesn't search for a signal all day if you aren't using any apps that use it.

Thanks guys. So it sounds like I can just leave the GPS on with minimal battery drainage if it is not in use. I am going to test this and see how much my battery life is affected versus leaving it off.

Yes, no problem with leaving it enabled all the time. Good luck!

I leave it enabled all the time and never noticed any significant battery drainage ...
