I just noticed this recently replacing the regular GPS in the Options menu and Google doesn't turn up diddly on this. I'm assuming the unlocking or unbranding process switched it from just GPS to this, but what's listed is totally different.

Here are screens of what is in the GPS Extended Ephemeris:

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated as always.

It sounds like a dump of the ephemeris data normally downloaded by the GPS, or it could be the assistance data.

Looks like you got some more advanced GPS options, overall...

I don't appear to be able to change anything that is within that section though, just like, as you said, it's a dump of GPS info.

There may be another Options section where you can turn GPS on and off, etc? Or unbranding perhaps removes these option (doubtful)...

Looks like the engineering diagnostic screens for ephemeris. Technically interesting but completely useless info. You got good signal strength (C/No) but only 4 satellites which is bare minimum for a fix.

I looked through this menu and couldn't figure out what any of it meant. I just left it alone so I didn't screw it up.

Yea, I'm not gonna touch a lot of things that got added. Basically the entire alt + lshift + H engineering menu. I really don't wanna end up nuking or bricking my baby, lol.

I wonder if you can get the engineering menu without debranding...

    Yes, you can.

Not sure of the "legalness" of it and whatnot, but here:

I got this from a friend who found it on another forum.

I do not take credit for this in any way. (Happy Dave?)

" BlackBerry eScreen Unlock Code Generator (by Thyth)

First access your help screen and enter in the information into that web form.

Do not exit out of help screen otherwise you'll have to do everything over again.

Make sure when listing your App version you also include the parenthesis and the numbers in it.

You can choose how long the code will last for in the drop-down menu.

Hit enter and the website will generate a code.

Now, while still in the help screen just start typing in the code, make sure you hit the alt key for the numbers.

After you enter in the code it should automatically bring you to the engineering screen. Now every time you hit alt + L-shift + H it will bring you to that screen for the amount of time you
    set the code for."

Ok, don't quote me on this because I'm probably thinking of something else or misread the article. However, I swear I remember reading an MIT article about some experimenting they did with unbranded Blackberry models, and one thing they discovered, was that the GPS EE was a signal frequency and dB enhancer. I've noticed, myself, that even with GPS on, the EE doesn't receive any changes to it unless I change options on the eScreen itself. So, to the best of my knowledge, this makes perfect sence, yet, those guys could probably use a paper clip for the same desired result... :/
