is there an external gps product to put on the 8900? I know it is gps available, but from what I understand, you have to use the internet which I don't plan on doing. I also have poor coverage in my area and often don't have a signal.
I know the palm has program like that from garmin or something.

    Oh, I have AT&T.

You will need data in order to get the maps from almost any program especially the Garmin program.

The GPS will locate your position without it, but it will just show you on a blank screen. There are programs such as GPSed.

You might look at TrekBuddy for off-line maps, but the selection is very limited.

You might be better served getting an inexpensive Garmin nuvi GPS unit.

You might take a look at MGMaps on this thread: http://forums.crackberry.com/f41/gps...t-data-147262/

I'm using it on the 8900 with no problems. Just be sure to use the "MMMaps" version rather than MGMaps - otherwise Google Maps doesn't play nice with it.
