As you can tell, i'm confused, a newbie, and a little hesitant about downloading google talk on my blackberry if it might cost me and if it doens't have aim.

Google Talk is like AIM, but its well, it is Google Talk.

Like a duck is like a goose, sorta. Same but different.

Google Talk works on data transmission, if you have an unlimited BB Data Plan, you will be fine.

Even better is JiveTalk, it will cost ya $20-30 for the user license, but it is GOOD.

On google talk, so it's like aim, but can you still talk to the same screen names as aim or is it like yahoo as to aim. They are both messengers, but they have different usernames?

it is as Yahoo is to AIM, you will need another account.

JiveTalk however, allows users from ALL applications. AIM, Google, Yahoo, ICQ, etc.
