hey all.. Got the Blackberry Curve 8520.

This happens periodically. Google Maps has no problem finding my location for a couple months, then suddenly decides it's had enough. Now it can't find my location. Battery out, hard reset, even uninstalled and reinstalled GMaps. Nothing.

Can anyone help? I'm in a new city and it's very frustrating not being able to use this to get around.

According to the BlackBerry spec page, the 8520 does not have a built-in GPS. That means Google Maps is using cell phone towers to estimate your location. If you are in an area with poor cell coverage, that might explain your problems.

I used to have a Verizon 8830. Verizon disabled the GPS in that model for a time. (They don't anymore.) I bought an external GPS puck that connected via Bluetooth. It worked reasonably well with the 8830 and Google Maps. If getting a different BlackBerry isn't an option, you might look at GPS pucks.
