Thanks F2 and JeffH. I wasn't even aware that there was yet another menu screen available once you saw the device properties page (to refresh the service book). I also edited my permissions from custom to allow. I'll see if that helps to keep GoogleMaps in sync with my puck WITHOUT having to have BBMaps running in the background!

Sri for the late reply, JRSCCivic98 and John Clark. I found with my previous BB7250 that the battery drained much faster with the GPS set to "Location On" than it did with GPS set to "911 only." I didn't have an external GPS then, and wasn't running GMM. I am now using GMM 2.0.3 with my Verizon 8830 and GPS set to "911 only" and a Freedom Keychain 2000. I am not seeing an increased battery drain with 2.0.3. I just got the 8830 and never had any earlier version of GMM installed on it.

Where can you download the 2.1.0 version? My Google updater doesn't say there is anything new out there for me !

Mobile
...from your blackberry. I don't think Google Updater on your PC can help with a bb app.

Thanks ! Would you know if I need to remove the older version before I install the updated one?
-
You don't need to remove the older version.
-
I would suggest removing the old first... just as a precaution.

hey guys, I installed the beta 4.5 OS on my 8310 and now Google maps cannot connect to the gps. the system will not connect to the gps satellites . is there any way to fix this, or do i have to downgrade the OS?
thanks

I think if you look through the forum you'll find it was a known issue with the beta OS. I haven't seen it mentioned lately. Check the forum to see if anybody found a solution other than removing the beta OS. I don't recall one.

I'm a casual user of Google Maps - only when I don't have the TomTom handy. But I find the new version to be a fabulous improvement. I have an 8100 (therefore no GPS) and I think the fact that it even has an estimated location is a vast improvement from me inputting my location myself as the starting point. I've been very pleased with it and it's worked very well for me so far.

Does anyone know if there is a way to "Avoid Highways" on the blackberry version of google maps?

Will a gps puck still work with google maps 2.2.0.? I have a curve with verizon and looking to google on occasions with my berry.
-
Yes, your external bluetooth puck will work just fine with gmm 2.2.0. I use the Freedom Keychain 2000.
