They can't ditch bb10 as the Z10 will never be able to run android. It just doesn't have enough power for that.

Don't think the Z10 factors in to any decisions that BlackBerry makes today... or any BB10 device of that generation. We are all about to be playbooked.

    This pessimism is depressing.

We don't even know what the slider will run. Maybe it will be dual boot OS, dual keyboard with 3 app stores pre loaded. Now that would be the cats ***, but then the whining would begin that it isn't all touch.

Enjoy your bb10. I know I am. Even if the slider is Android, your current BB10 will still work just fine.

    Primarily I will miss:

The ability to simply drag and drop music/video onto device, with the likelihood it will play thanks to good codec support.

The ability to quickly access files on my NAS, and remotely transfer files too and from it/other devices.

I am assuming that the Android release will contain features like Hub, so we won't need to say goodbye to those.

    Posted via CB10
Yes ^^^, two of the best features of BB10!! Use it a lot.

At this point, nothing is decided yet, so don't panic. Wait until the slider arrives, which should be soon, and see how BB10 develops.

    Posted via CB10
It has been decided. Since BlackBerry will not update to Qt5. They are using a framework that is EOL. When the framework is EOL, the OS isn't far behind.

Don't get too excited. They can't upgrade the framework between now and then the slider is launched. BB10 is in maintenance mode. BB10 is getting "playbooked".

    Personally doubt it.

More likely, they'll go the way of the PlayBook. The man obstacle would be BlackBerry World IMO - what happens with purchased BB10 apps, or apps BB10 users have a dependency on?

Sale in North America do not dictate the strength of the company. Else where in the world sales are pretty good. Just not here. I doubt it will be forgotten about and I bet it will continue on and become the choice of more and more people. Especially when they get a taste of the BB10 experience through the android phone(s). You will see.

Odds are BB10 devices will continue... at least in the near term.... too much time and effort tied up in Enterprise and DOD to simply drop BB10... would take some time to get certification for new Android devices for secure DOD servers... not to mention various governments...
Your right, BB10 isn't going to disappear overnight.

There will be some old stock that will need to be sold... Look at the PlayBook, they haven't made those in several years, and you can still buy one brand new in the box. So the few DoD installations (don't know of any), and other various governments that "bought into" BB10... will for a time be able to "stock up". What I question is... how much confidence will they put in anything BlackBerry after this?

But what most here fear, is the end of BB10.... but look at BBOS, still going "strong".

But then not many of us want to be on a boat going no where....

Sorry. It is not. I show off my Passport, on average a couple times per week. Not one person has said: "Oh, yea that's the phone I saw at the store." Nor have they said: "I had my hands on a new Blackberry phone just recently." Every one, without exception, has said something like: "Oh, I didn't know Blackberry was still making phones." Perhaps they will say: "I loved my old Blackberry."

To say no one cares is completely wrong. The fact remains BB10 phones are not available to the general public. If they were, they'd sell just enough to make the handset division profitable, With BB10! They don't have to kill Apple or Android. Just increase volume slightly.

The recent publicity about Hillary Clinton having her Blackberries destroyed is the most publicity to non-phone-addicts Blackberry has had in years. I just hope people will understand the reason why her and her staff were using them.
