this weekend, i happened to pass by a local t-mobile store so i decided to stop by and see which blackberry model they had on display. the store was very crowded. i was pleased to see blackberry has its own section. the phone rep i spoke with was very cordial and actually didn't try to steer me to android phones. he did mentioned t-mobile has been increasing its android portfolio and the blackberry is kind of not as important at the moment.

that afternoon i needed to pick up a couple of things at costco so i swung by the phone merchandise booth to see what blackberry phones they had on display. the phone booth is being run by wireless advocates (dot com) in partnership with costco merchandise i believe. they have phones for verizon, t-mobile, and at&t. while i was looking for the torch 9860 with at&t, i overheard a female rep explaining to a couple about the fact that blackberry phones compress the data so on and so forth. i was pretty impressed. she not only didn't bash blackberry to potential customers but also took the time pointing out blackberry strengths. she then proceeded to show the couple google maps but she had no luck getting the current location because the signal at location was terrible. since she was inside the building, the real gps couldn't be used and a-gps didn't work either. she was struggling so i jumped in and offerred a quick demo with blackberry traffic on my blackberry bold 9900. i showed them how easy it was to get different routes, pick the best route, and send a quick i-am-on-my-way note. the couple was totally impressed. the rep, self introduced as tanya, was thanking me for my demo. i told her that i was impressed with her taking the time to explain blackberry features to customers. she told me she's a blackberry user and gave me her business card. that's when i left for her to close the deal with the potential customers. i believe they picked a white torch 9810.

so it's nice to know that not all phone reps are android or iphone bias.

i've been eyeing the 9860 for my mom (still uses a featured phone) and grandpa (a torch 9800 user) so it's just a matter of time for them to pull a trigger on this bad boy. :-)

yes indeed. she is not only cute but also polite. AND she is a blackberry user.

there were two other female reps beside her but there weren't as friendly as her.
