is there a way to sync contacts and calendars with gmail without a data plan?
wifi preferred but USB is fine too.
i have BB 8220 pearl flip, if that makes any difference.

the main thing i wanna sync is my contacts. i'm using my iPod touch for my calendars and email. i have no use for a data plan, as i am almost always in a wifi area. it's kinda disappointing how much RIM restricts wifi data transfer.

Absoloutely no problem at all the program is called "Google Sync" - use the BB browser to search for it and install it from their web page, it's one of the few mobile google apps which does work without a stupd BIS or BES plan.
