If you downloaded facebook, myspace or even BBM, when you get a new mail or notification or message, a little icon pops up on the main screen right next to the orange envelopes. Why doesn't Gmail have a feature that does this too? Instead of opening the main screen and looking at the gmail icon looking to see if there is a star on it, they should have a gmail icon that pops up on the main screen along with everyone else's new notification icons.

    Anyone else agree?

I'm thinking that those applications are able to use that feature because they are developed by RIM. The GMail app, along with other applications, probably do not have access to utilizing that feature.
