If you turn off notifications, can't people still leave them, you just won't know they're there?

Have you tried asking your carrier to disable it on your account?

I'm not sure if this will do exactly as you wish but it's the closest thing I can think of.

Press the green call button > Press menu > Options > Call Forwarding.

It will take a moment to load, but then you will get a screen that shows Forward all calls and forward unanswered calls. You can change the options for the 3 settings under forward unanswered calls to do not forward.

Or you could forward all of your calls to ... 1.) a disconnected number; 2.) some sort of 3rd party number (directory assistance, movie times, etc); or 3.) your office number where they'll take a message for you.

Answer your phone, then you won't have any voicemail.

If someone did that to me, I would purposely use my 1000+ rollover mins and keep that call going forever!

Forwarding to 3rd party vm uses minutes if it's not nights or weekends.

Well that stinks. Why have the option to set Do Not Forward, if it doesn't work...

    okay update
i changed one of the forwarding numbers to my buddys number
    lets see if he notices
oh and this time it took, when i went back in to the options after saving, it was still showing his number on all three options
this is gonna be a good prank considering he is the one who leaves me voicemail...maybe next time he will leave himself voicemail
    lmmfao!

On VZW's email, we have the choice for an extended absence greeting. When you call into your VMX, do you get an option to turn on/off your VMX?

One thing to note is that you still get charged air time on forwarded calls...

Just have your carrier disable the voicemail on your account. I know that Verizon does it.

I could have vm disabled but I'm gonna roll with it for now! I don't worry about my minutes. Since I've been working at night I hit about 100 minutes per month out of 1000.
    Works perfectly!
Even shows up as whoevers number on my friends phone. He can be my secretary.

Nice... I'm still curious why the "do not forward" option doesn't work though.
