If you're getting it on ebay and they say to drain it first, do it, then charge it until it's fully charged.

I did that with the extended battery on my 9700 I got for $10. Take care.

Not sure why the instructions to first deplete the battery. The newer lithium ion (li-on) batteries love to be charged, hate being depleted. Very different from the older nickel cadmium (NiCad) batteries. Maybe something the way a used battery may hav been charged/depleted in the past?

+1 for no need to drain. These new batteries like to be charged, no need to drain them first.

+2 Draining Lithium ion batteries is usually what kills them. Charge it as much, as often and as full as you want. Just don't run them out.

Li-ion batteries don't suffer from memory effect as Ni-Cd batteries do. Draining them leads to premature failure. Your BlackBerry likes power. Feed it and make it happy.
