I also found a free copy and Im glad I did.. I have tried it today and when you lose the signal forget it.. Finally when I did get my 3G back, it was too late.. It timed out and tried again.. I cant rely on that when im running around..
Got tone with Garmin on my S2 for $79. "Straightforward" install. Don't know if I'll remove VZ Nav though - like its traffic reporting. Shoot: now have installed BB Maps, VZ Nav, BlackStar, Google Maps, and Garmin. Boy Scout Motto: Be Prepared. Just search on "$79 garmin for blackberry"
First nav assignment: about 3 miles from my house - started fine and then really blundered at the end (1/4 mile out of 3 is not good.) As with all such tools (eg VZNavigator), you must continue to use your brain and all senses. Hopefully, Garmin will update with use and really improve its service.
Correspondence with Garmin tech: when I use bluetooth to my Motorola 505 for handsfree, Garmin audible turn-by-turn
does not come thru. Tech stated that this feature was discarded due to poor sound quality. Boo Hoo ! I wants dis feature and
I am willing to pay for it !
As regards my 505, I use an old style cassette and wire to listen to my music (no nasty FM fade, etc.).
When a call comes in, the music is paused and the call is smoothly transferred. I love this feature.

How's the battery life when using this app on your Storm2? I think you can buy a Garmin unit now with a bigger screen for about the same amount, or about $100.

I can go about 3-4 hours with the Garmin software running on battery power on my Storm2. That's quite a bit better than I experienced with VZ Nav. It doesn't consume any power when it's not running, of course. Basically you should plan on having your Storm2 plugged in when you're using the Garmin software, which means make sure you have an auto power adapter for your Storm2.
