No, it wont work without data, nor will Google Maps or any of the other GPS apps that download their maps as needed via data a connection.
How's the battery life when using this app on your Storm2? I think you can buy a Garmin unit now with a bigger screen for about the same amount, or about $100.
It depends on how you use it. The screen nevers turns off when Garmin has the focus, so if you're navigating in a city where you're constantly having to look at the app to follow the turns, it will drain the battery in about 3 to 6 hours. However, it's would be pretty weird to be driving around needing a GPS for 3 to 6 hours straight. Also, if you're in your car, plug the phone into a car charger and it wont matter. If you're on a trip, you can just leave Garmin running and navigate back to the home screen, which will dim after 30 seconds or so. Garmin will still talk to you when something is coming up that you need to do, but with the screen off, your battery will last all day.
I just bought it and like it a lot. It is the best GPS app for blackberry in my opinion. The Google local search is spot on. Below is a link to purchase it for 79.99 through blackberry lounge. Just paste the link in you web browser and it will take you to Garmin's site.
Thanks for the info grey. It would have been even better if you could download maps to the media card and use it as a raw GPS unit while roaming so you don't get dinged for data charges.
