So I upgraded my 8700c to OS 4.2. Was thrilled. Then I found I missed some of the things from OS 4.1 - I decided I would go back to 4.1. So off I went to the Cingular site - did the usual steps to install an OS and NOTHING - I tried this 4 times to ensure I was doing everything correctly. Nope - no luck.

Now I think I have decided to try to get used to 4.2 but I should have had the option to go back to 4.1.

Has anyone out there reverted back from 4.2 to 4.1? I can't imagine you can't go back once you have upgraded.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Did you delete the 4.2 OS from your PC before you re-installed the 4.1 OS?

No, that I didn't do, Kasper. But will try. Thanks for the suggestion. Will update thread after I have tried that.

Keep us updated on how it works out for you. I think with most installations whether they be upgrades or downgrades, it's best to delete the old version off your pc first, then install the new one.

I think that should fix it for you *fingers crossed*.

Very true, wxboss - missed that step. I was hopeful but 4.2 isn't even in control panel - isn't that odd!?

I went to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\ on my pc and deleted the contents in that folder, then reinstalled the old os and deleted the vendor file then hooked up my BB. It worked without a hitch.

You may want to try loading the new 8700 OS v4.2 from Optus. I posted the link in the existing thread about 4.2

Just curious. What were the things that you missed from OS 4.1?

    Thanks.

Thanks carbob. If you go HERE you will see my initial list. I will be adding a few more things as well.

I would also be interested in hearing what other people's thoughts are.

Well...after not being able to get PocketExpress working and not being able to delete multiple email messages at the same time, I gave up on 4.2 for now!

Thank you wxboss and Navilyn. I uninstalled eveyrthing on the PC related to BB except the DST patch and then started over. Also, deleted the AppLoader contents. All worked like a charm and I am back up and running!!
