    Hi,

I have a Bold 9900 on Orange (EE) in the UK. I'm only about 12 months into the 24 month contract, but called Orange anyway today, just to see what the upgrade cost to ther Z10 would be.

Whilst the rep. was waiting for her systems to kick-in (as ever...), she suddenly said that she had heard of an offer available to Bold 9900 users currently in contract with Orange. Apparently, due to 'issues' with the 9900 (she didn't specify - I have had some issues with it over the past year, but no more or less than any smartphone user, I imagine), EE are doing free upgrades for 9900 owners to the Z10, on the proviso of signing up for a fresh 24 months. I asked her to check that this was correct and also that it wasn't just for faulty phones/insurance claims, but she was insistant that she was right, but this was ONLY available in store, until 24th Feb 2013.

I'm shortly going to call my local EE branch direct to check this. I've had numerous experiences in the past with various providers, where the shop says one thing, the phone says another (the right hand very often doesn't talk to left, I find...) and vice-versa, so i'll report back with what they say.

Has anyone else heard of this - has anyone got the free upgrade???

    Al.

I'm sure I heard about this somewhere but I can't remember where.

    Lets see what happens.

Update on this. Basically, I traded in my 9900 to EE, and I'm now on a new 24 month contract with them instead of Orange, and the owner of a Z10. The handset was 29.99.

It sounds more like a marketing strategy to me, but it feels like a good deal! I would think it's worthwhile!

    I'd probably go for it.

Yeah. It definately is, but worth taking. I have anew Z10 for 30, so no complaints.

Is this an indication the phones are becoming easier to come by? I think that's a good thing btw that anyone who wants one can get it!
