I just installed amAze GPS (http://www.amazegps.com/) on my 8800.

    Getting it to work
    1. OTA download from their site didn't work out (error 500).
    2. Downloaded the app to my pc and installed it without problems using the apploader.
    3. When you first launch the app you need to login or create a new user (this is best done from the site, it's free)
    4. Next you encounter a 8800 bug, it says to hit the P-key to start, but it's actually the O-key (they brought it over from the Pearl incorrectly, it's still beta for the 8800)

    First test runs
    - Maps load a bit slow on GPRS because they are very detailed. Seems to work just OK on EDGE though.
    - You can choose between map view and arrow view. Arrow view loads quicker and consumes less of your dataplan
    - GPS positioning is fast (faster than BB maps or Google maps)
    - Routing works really well and accurate.
    - Route recalculation is fast.
    - Voice commands are very clear.

    Conclusion
This is a great free GPS app with voice commands and recalculating capabilities.
There are a few extra utilities (weather forecast, yellow page search,...)

    Hi,

I'm having problems getting the AmaZe GPS application to work on my pearl. I have the application icon on my pearl, but each time I try launching, it's giving a "communication problem" error.

Do you need to have internet on the blackberry pearl for AmaZe to work? I already got a GPS receiver for this, but it's still not working. I downloaded on my desktop and then my blackberry

    I'll appreciate your suggestions.

I have same error message. Try again few times or wait few minute. It will get through. It is very helpful to use it while on the road.

Does this software work with the BB Curve 8300? I have a puck since it has no intergrated GPS.

    Awesome program!!!!

Everything worked as is and I DL'ed it via the BB through the wap site after creating on the laptop a username and password.

It's a bit tricky to figure out but I found the instructions on the webpage so I'm reading through them now.

    Thanks for posting it up!!!

Thanks daddyfizzle! This seems to be working ok on my 8310 although I have not road tested yet. I'm still a new bb user so this community is awesome to have as a resource.

From my desktop machine, I created the user account at amazegps and then downloaded the app. I tried to upload to the bb through the app loader in Desktop Manager by pointing to the .axl file but had problems. So on the bb went to wap.amazegps.com.

The app downloaded fine and installed. One installation note is that the install took several minutes and at times there was no progress shown on the screen so it can take a while.

Having a "communication problem" not sure what thats about? with the 8320 from tmobile you have to enable firewalls and insert wapvoicestream.com in your APN according to a post on thier site.

You have to be kidding :-)

It takes ~5min to load, you have to do 10 things just to enter data in a field, it does not find anything ( at least here in the states ), might be a totally different experience in EUR though dunno.

Honestly I didn't have the patience to even pull up the first route. It was enough for me finding my house ( inaccuratley ) and trying to search a known store near by that TeleNav, GoogleMaps, BB Maps, and Infospace found but aMaze didn't.

In the past two weeks I have tried TeleNav, WayFinder, InfoSpace, BB Maps, Google Maps, aMaze, and just for kicks speedOmeter and pTracking.

Have to say aMaze is at the bottom of the list and TeleNave is at the top.

I have tried amAze with 4 different revs. It is the absolute SLOWEST thing I have ever seen. Totally un-usable. Nav4all does the same thing.. is free.. with voice turn-by-turn. Even the old MapQuest Navigator was better than amAze. InfoSearch FindIt is still better.

I've given them their last chance. It's the round file for amAze. Not worth wasting the RAM over.

Interesting, I don't have of these problems here in Charleston SC. In fact it had my actual address in the database versus Google and Telenav which did not. It is slower than the other apps though I will admit!!

Has anyone had this problem.....I have a 7130e and I downloaded the program OTA. I also tried installing it through DM. The program comes up without a problem and askes for username and password. Again no prob. But I can't click on apply. I can highlight the apply word but there is no way to transmit it. When I use the track wheel I can only close the program. Also there are no keyboard keys that will transmit the information. Also, it's the latest version of Amaze.
