Once voice, channels and video hits BBM will be better than Skype. BBM is gonna be huge once the above is added

Did a video chat with my buddy in England the other day. Was super sick, and I did it over LTe as well.

BBM with Channels can take Skype, Twitter and Facebook. I still cant truly define BBM Channels although I've been using it and beta testing from the beginning. If I have to describe it to any outsider, it will probably go like this: Something like a combination of Twitter and Facebook.

With the right content, channels could really take off. Even with the limited amount of channels I subscribe to right now I find myself wanting to share posts with everyone.

Hurry up, get it multi platform and watch it take off.

I wonder how they will tempt android and ios users to try channels....i know what made us try it but why would they? bbm doesn't seem to be making the impact among folks I know

Those stats are for downloading volume for the first month during the BBM launch. BBM was the only newly launched app within the month surveyed, among the apps mentioned in the article. The other platforms have been established for years and therefore there were no mass/temporary surges of downloads, just steady and progressive downloads.

I would love to see that same survey for this month, since the initial hoopla of BBM launch has died down and the app has fallen to the bottom of download rankings in the Playstore and App store.

What should be more concerning to BB, is WhatsAPP's download dominance in South Africa, Brazil and India (BB's stronger territories). WhatsAPP is holding strong and steady despite BBM's big launch. Next month's download stats should be interesting.

I don't think that BBM (or Whatsapp, Viber, etc) should be put up against Snapchat. While Snapchat is a messaging service, it's in a category of its own.

Hopefully, on Dec 20th, BBRY announces actual users. BBM has to be part of the future.
