This procedure does not just turn on (so to speak) your GPS. I'm on Tmo and did this and I get an almost instant fix on 8 to 10 satalites everytime.
Thanks again.

That I get. But until I did these steps I lock in as opposed to 3,000 meters away.

You need to get your "spidey-senses" recalibrated. I don't work for Verizon or any other communications company. I just don't like wrong information to be bandied about and ranted about.
Huh. You sound like a real peach mama. Cee yoU Next Tuesday!

How do you find out how many sats ur locked onto? Also does this help the BBM location issue?

BlackBerry Maps will display at the bottom of the screen how many satellites are locked.
Typically, the more satellites that are locked, the better the GPS accuracy will be in general and the chance of losing the GPS lock is lower. (Note that it's not a linear relationship.)
Every time I try it on my 8330, I get the following msg. It happens instantly. Tried it several times, outside and in.
Verizon blocks the GPS on the 8330 except for use with BlackBerry Maps and VZNav. The GPS will not work in other applications on the 8330.
Everybody including me...... GET THE LESSON.
Before you buy, ask 1st for unbranded, 2nd for unlocked phones.
And like I said, including me....
You got "how $$$ much you paid" worth of a lesson ;)
Thankz
Athanasis, I know you are trying to be of assistance, but that comment does not apply to Verizon devices. They can neither be unlocked nor unbranded.
Thanks for this!
Seems like the GPS on my unlocked Bell 9530 is locked. I'm currently on Rogers. Is there any way of bypassing the lock?

My GPS quit working after an OS update. How do I fix this?
Try Options - adv options - GPS then make sure its turned on for starters. Then go to OP and follow the steps to make sure its working.

Ok, I did both of those. Now what?
It says that fixing succeeds but can't pinpoint my location in Blackberry maps or Google maps.
Thanks.
