What does it mean by Encrypt? And why would you want to?
wHEN YOU "ENCRYPT" THE MEDIA CARD WHAT YOUR DURING IS MAKING THE MEDIA CARD INACESSABLE TO ANYONE ELSE THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE PROVIDED PASSWORD THAT YOU CHOOS AT TIME OF THE ENCRYPTION! sO IN OTHER WORDS WHAT YOUR DOING IS PASSWORD PROTECTING THE CARD
They can still break it
True they can, but it makes things a little bit harder..
It's harder to break if all of your filenames are in uppercase.
Exacyly, zaveth. And with typos, typos fool the algorithms.
But yeah, it just makes it harder to get the data on your BB without your permission -- ie. Grabbing the microsd out of the slot and trying to get data off it will be difficult as it's encrypted and they can't just copy the data from it. Not impossible, of course, but very difficult. So unless you're hiding plans to a new type of nuclear bomb on there or something that should be more than enough protection for whatever you may need.

I understand the concept of the media card files being protected from being accessed or copied to another computer or phone. But, if the media card is encrypted, does this protect the access of media files if an unauthorized user gets access to your phone with the media card still inserted?
Not if he knows the password to your BB, assuming it's password enabled.
It sounds like that while in the encryption mode and the password enabled mode that if the blackberry is unlocked, then the media card is unlocked while in the phone.
So is there any way to have your blackberry unlocked with most features accessable and at the same time have the media card locked?
Thanks
