the best way to avoid being addicted to the blackberry is by putting the phone out of site and make sure the phone is on silent.

I first had an 8700g that I used so much that the side wheel just quite working. I just had to replace it. So down to the T-Mobile store and I got my 8320 Cruve. No speicals or deals I had to pay full price. But ----- it. I wanted a new BlackBerry and I bought, so there. Addicted, heck yes, and I love it. It work so well that I sold my laptop.

In 2005, I took my 7100t to Italy. I took special measures to ensure that my International roaming was activated, BUT it NEVER worked. Thank goodness, my friends had theirs working, and allowed me to periodically email home. I realized then, how addicted I am.

You know those guys who prance around space with the packs on their backs: that's there life support system. Well you can get them a little smaller now but the only thing they've left out is the toilet function and the air supply. Long live BB

I had an accident and broke my first BlackBerry (a Pearl) less than two months after I got it. I had to wait nearly a week for the insurance company to replace it, and the entire week I felt lost. I had to make a trip out of town and spent hours on the train twiddling my thumbs and feeling angry and lost without my BlackBerry to keep me busy.

Luckily, my new phone (a Curve, which I like much better than the Pearl anyway) arrived the say I got home, and hasn't left my person for a minute since!

Every now and then I have to tell myself that I use to do without email or a phone. Guess that is the benefit of being older than the technology!

i'm so addicted that i WON'T go into the bathroom to drop a deuce without my berry. Even if the battery is low, I will bring my charger and plug it up in the bathroom, lol... Admitting it is half the battle!!!

Me too! but I think it is akin to the news paper under the arm a la "Al Bundy".

To help me in keeping the addiction under control (if you can call it that) I have my device programmed to power off automatically after 11, and it is not turned back on until the morning.

It is the very first sound I hear in the morning as it wakes me with the theme song from the "Sting"; music to my ears. Then the rest of the day continues with cool sounds from the phone, to meassages, to reminders, and SMS's. It is both my work and personal phone. It is a tool and a toy. I just now received a reminder for "Moonlight" starting in 15min. The ring tones I have chosen are all pleasing to hear and my clients at work are not annoyed by them; their comments are always positive. If someone has a question that none of us has the answer, I allow the Pearl to shine.
Addiction? or Enjoyment. Only Crckberrys can understand.

Everytime it buzzes...I must must must check to see what caused it. My leg feels like it is shaking even when the BBerry isn't around.

No, I can't say I am addicted. But having said that, work-wise I could never give it up.

I have really tried to force myself not to automatically grab my BB when it vibrates when I am talking to others. I use nearly all my 3500 minutes a month in my business and I am really trying to be more considerate of others by not automatically answering the Pavlov command.
