I am a perfect example of how WiFi helps. I get almost no network coverage at home. WiFi enables me to still receive emails and BB messages. Without WiFi, it would take much longer for the network signal to notify me. Also, My apps (like weatherbug) can update through WiFi, which I wouldn't be able to do with out it.

+1, lots of people get poor service in large buildings where there is generally wifi freely available. Like airports, hotels/motels, shopping malls, some households, rural areas, corporate work places, etc.

Also wifi operates at b/g wireless speeds, faster then 3G networks are.

So there is a very valid use for wifi. However i don't agree with the restrictions of wifi that verizon has in check. I want calling support over wifi through UMA (i believe) like t-mobile has. **** i would even go as far as saying i would pay usage minutes for the calls through wifi (or free, if it was night weekend or verizon to verizon call), just to be able to place calls through wifi when service via tower is not available, should be offered for free with the prices verizon charges.

I got a call tonight from Verizon wanting to know from 1-10 what I thought of their tech support and how I rate verizon overall. I told them the coverage is awesome, but the prices are awful. I could get far cheaper service from Tmob or Sprint, but then I'd be sacrificing coverage. I think Verizon knows that people will pay extra to be assured they have a signal wherever they go. My phones have worked everywhere in the 7 states I've traveled in in the last few years. can't beat that. The only area I lost a signal was north of Lake Shasta, on I5.

overseas hotel/resort data use for me is the most important reason for it. Also wifi on long flights

The only thing I can see myself doing over wifi is transferring music or podcasts from my computer to my BB without having to connect a USB cord or remove the SD card.

Otherwise, if I'm at home or work near a wifi network, I'll be using a computer, not a blackberry. And I don't have coverage issues... well.. anywhere really. And I can't imagine needing a huge data pipe into/out of my BB for any reason. I mean, I'm not uploading 300mb files to youtube from it while traveling or anything.

When I was thinking of getting a Tour, I almost didn't because of the lack of wifi. Then I realized, "what would I use wifi for anyhow?" Couldn't think of an answer, so I got the phone.

I'm sooo glad I don't have to fly for business. I avoid flying as much as I can the last few years. What once was rather fun has become a hassle. The airlines treat passengers like cattle. We got stuck on a plane in Minneapolis that had A/C problems, from around 7PM until past midnight. They finally deboarded us after midnight and had us walk hundreds of yards in the terminal to another gate to get on a replacement plane brought in from a nearby airport. They gave us NOTHING to eat or drink except for TAP water, during the hours we sat at the gate in the hot plane. They offered no compensation--nothing. I HATE flying now. I detest all the rules that restrict what u can take onboard. Paying to check baggage-disgusting.

I dont have too many problems with state to state flights. Where the problems lie is on international flights. Last one I took was to panama city and man, did AA screw us! Flight was 24 hours late... (BROKEN PLANE)

Then we missed our conneting flight in miami to NY and they didnt want to arrange a new flight for us. They put it off on the miami airport. Knowing that they were just handing off, we bitched and finally right before we boarded the plane 24 hours later, me and my ex wife were the only one that got connecting flight tickets before we flew off. It was just an awful 24 hours. Germany was a little smoother. lets see how this summer goes

The part that i dont get is...most Wi-Fi networks are locked down...so unless you are at home...or say...Starbucks...how often do you really utilize Wi-Fi on a Storm2???

I know at my office...Wi-Fi is strictly prohibited due to security risks...and unfortunately I am in one of those building that gives me one bar and juices my battery the entire time bc of the constant search for signal (ideal for Wi-Fi on S2).

And even though I want my phone to have as much as it can and have it be as fast as it can...the Wi-Fi excitement (on the S2) is odd to me since Verizon coverage is pretty damn good.

So u may not have access to a wifi signal given the available options within that bubble, but, the option is there. And the option is a good option! People also run into these problems in their basements, their living rooms, and as I mentioned before.... overseas, especially in a resort or hotel where wifi is pentiful! Sure u might have to pay from time to time. But hey, options are great! And with an unlocked device with a prepared sim card included with wifi, it beats out global data rates any day of the week

The S2 is my first BB with wifi. (My first BB was the S1) I use wifi to disappear!

When I get home, and don't want to receive calls, I turn the VZW network off, and use wifi to continue to use email, Twitter, Facebook, and iheartradio, along with other apps.

I find it kinda cool, myself.

Simultaneous....voice....and....data....

That means you can do both. It's up to you whether you want to shut off 3g.

I don't get a reliable signal at my home and Wi-fi actually allows me to use my storm2 while i'm at home now.

I do have a laptop at home, but it in my office upstairs and I van use my storm downstairs to check fantasy scores, Facebook, email, etc

Also, I travel quite a bit and cell signals in hotels and other places are not that great

Having wi-fi on the phone is a huge benefit to a lot of customers

Also I just downloaded the iPass client for blackberry. Just noticed that it is available in appworld. But still waiting for IT to send me a configuration code.

Has anyone else got iPass up and running successfully?
