    Greetings all,

I have been a mwmber since 09 but am essentially new since I never seem to have posted. So hello, I am Stephen, and yeah I'm totally a CB addict.

I hate contracts. Long story short. Do you think when Z10 is fully out in US we will see any considerable price drop in the eBay going rate? If not, what do you think the carrier retail price?

Literally dying to get my hands on one...well almost literally.

Not desperate enough to take it for $199 and then sell my soul for 2 years, despite the fact that I'm fine with T-Mobile and have been with them for like over 4 years now.

Maybe it is just me...I love to be able to call with a service issue and know I have leverage.

    Thanks a lot,

    -STV

    Hi Stephen,

I'm very much in the same boat as you (in regards to CB membership).

    I got my Z10 (in AUS) from here;
    BlackBerry Z10 4G LTE | MobiCity Australia

I know they post O/S - hope it helps.

Doesn't that carrier use the same frequency bands as Tmo US?

I know Wind in Canada does.

I am finding it confusing with the addition of LTE which carriers are selling a Z10 that will work on Tmo US HSPA and LTE. Not one or the other. No point in just having LTE, since coverage will be spotty for sure.

Try out places like First for Smartphones, Tablets, Laptops and Accessories - Expansys.com UK too. No need to be locked into a contract.

And what about AT&T ? Aren't they selling for $549 off contract? The US carriers may be your best bet there.

Yeah but I hate ATT...and their frequencies aren't the same as Tmobile.

Yes but the no contracy price probably won't be as good as what prices will hopefully come down to online. So I need to find a GSM HSPA and LTE compatible with tmo frequencies version online.

I am not entirely sure...all I know is they use the 1,4,8 AWS bands for UMTS, as opposed to the seemingly more common 1,2,5,6.

UPDATE: T-Mobile USA uses 850, 1700, and 1900 (1,4,8) for UMTS. They use 1700 for LTE.

Which other carrier will work for me? I'm assuming Wind at least.

Btw, the link to the online order company above has the wrong bands.

It is so difficult to ensure one buys the right one because most sellers on eBay don't have a clue and list it wrong and fail to mention it at all in the listing.

Radio frequency spectrum bands accessible by T-Mobile USA customers using compatible devices
Frequency Band Protocol Class Spectrum Purchased Service Began Notes
1700 MHz UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+ 3G/4G[43] 2006 2008 (3G), 2010 (Marketed as 4G) First carrier in the U.S. to deploy services on AWS frequencies (UMTS frequency band IV). Markets HSPA+ as "4G."
1700 MHz LTE 4G 2006 2013 Due to the failed acquisition of T-Mobile USA by AT&T, T-Mobile USA received additional UMTS frequency band IV (AWS) spectrum which will be used to begin deployment for LTE in 2013. Further AWS spectrum that will be employed for LTE was acquired from Verizon Wireless in summer 2012 as part of a deal involving Verizon's purchase of AWS spectrum blocks from several cable television operators.

1900 MHz UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+ 3G/4G 1994 2011 According to reports from users, T-Mobile started to reapportion its PCS frequency (UMTS frequency band II) for UMTS service in some areas. Will be expanded during LTE upgrade.[44]

OP if I were you, I'd wait till all carriers start selling the Z10, the prices will come down then. And I'd also buy the Z10 variant TMO will be selling (RFK121LW), as that one will work on both TMO and AT&T's '4G' and LTE networks (plus Canadian carriers' too.)

How quickly will the prices come down though? That's the key question.

I would hope immediate. Once it is available in all markets the eBay sellers have had their rare item fun. Time to sell it at suggested retail TOPS otherwise why would I get it from you if I could just buy it outright from my carrier.

The prices has already went down quite significantly since they first came out. They were selling $1000+ when they first came out, now you can buy them off in the $600's.

Average selling price on eBay is currently $607
Off contract price with AT&T is $549.99

My guess is that eBay savings will initially be marginal if you save at all. At least with the carrier purchase you have full confidence with carrier compatibility etc. Plus, you can take advantage of the $50 Best Buy gift card promotion by pre-ordering!
EDIT: Forgot you're going Tmobile, but perhaps they will have a similar promotion

My other concern is that buying from the carrier, they will make me switch services due to the new BB not relying on BIS specific data plan. I don't want to be charged more for that since there is no difference other than type of phone.

Even more critical, Tmobile may make me switch my actual plan to a value one since I would be buying a phone out right which I don't want to do. Fact is I have been grandfatherred into a ultra cheap plan they no longer offer, surely cheaper than anythig they have now. This is FamilyTime 700 I speak of.

It is like that old Meatloaf song--i will do anything for BBZ10 love, but I won't do that. (That=pay more for a new plan I don't need).

Though maybe I misunderstand it. Maybe the value plan for buying outright is just their new plan for new customers that sign up and choose to do what I want to do and avoid a contract. I doubbt they can make me switch to a new plan if I buy it outright and am an existing customer.

My general understanding is that buying outright = no strings. I can't see you having to change anything about your plan if you're paying full retail for the phone.

I spoke to a manager at my local TMobile store (this is an actual TMo ran one). He has been manager for a long time and he's real good. He thought it would be around the Galaxy so like $199 with 2-year soul sell or $600 retail.
