If you're not interested in the topic, why post? Personally, if i'm missing something that BB10 and the Z10 can do that i'm unaware of, i'd like to know.

I think number of cores will make a difference when we get to the point where mobile devices truly become viable alternatives to desktop systems. I'm talking about the ability to dock them to full workstations as the Atrix attempted to do but obviously failed at -- where your phone can plug into all peripherals and perform all of the tasks you can currently perform on your desktop computer. We're nowhere near that point yet; so as a few have already alluded to, quad cores in mobile devices today are pretty much for bragging rights more than anything else.
LOL what? you quoted me generalizing BB users and I was stating that I wasn't a BB user and that I was using 2 completely different OS's (one of which is the same as yours) (as far as knowledge about phones haha I not even going to entertain you with an argument on that lol
your defending Android as if I was bashing it BUT you clearly didn't comprehend... I was making a statement saying the tech that is out now can be optimized more and more with tighter programming/learning (even gave an example using the xbox) basically saying we are not seeing what our hardware can actually fully produce us. mentioning the Lumia 900 was an example on how lower end specs can keep up with higher end.
regardless it looks like you completely derailed this thread and I'm not going to sit and bicker so enjoy lol

Ummm NO NO NO NO!
We don't actually need quad core phones, except for android. As you can see dual core phone with operating systems like iOS and Windows Phone, have not got on the quad core cpu war...and there is a reason for it. it's because its not really needed. It seems Android needs the extra cpu power to make to user interface smooth. You can compare any WP8 device to a quad core Droid device and WP8 wins in UI smoothess hands down.
And the same goes for BB. Why put quadcore cpus on a mobile phone when you don't really need them.
So by your logic the rumoured quad core Aristo is a waste of time then? As for Android needing extra CPU to make the interface smooth, you do realize it's the GPU that makes things "smooth" right? Processing power and graphics capability aren't the same lol..
Morning all.
Please play nice, failing that, I'm simply going to start hanging out infractions like sweets and then start banning. Just saying...
More cores means more simultaneous number crunching capability. This can benifit with multitasking. However it can also use more power and can make the physical chip larger too. Size is mlre abundant in a 5 - 5.5" screen device compared to a 4"+ device, as is power cell size too. In the end most people could care less what is under the hood if the user experience and device capabilities are great.
at some point the hardware will have to slow down, unless there is a significant leap in battery technology.
i swear the only reason phones are getting bigger is to allow bigger batteries
