I know others have had this problem but I can't find a solution here that works.
I have a Bold 9900 (but this also happened on my Bold 9780).
I am running Win7, and have deleted both vendor.xml files
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

When this didn't work, I removed the software and re-installed it. When that didn't work, I removed all the Blackberry firmware updates via the Control Panel

Having done all this, DTM still refers to the previous version of the firmware.

It used to be oh so simple, but I just can't do it now.

Could someone please explain what critical step I am apparently missing?

I'd very much appreciate some help, and I guess it will help all those others who are also struggling

Try to dis-connect from the internet as DM may be looking for an update and not finding one.
