When you're downloading stuff do you usually have full service/data coverage? If so, there's nothing you can do really. Only thing I would suggest is do some research on which OS has the best browser, and switch to that OS.
Okay thanks, would you also be able to help me with using the opera mini 5.0 browser? it doesnt connect to the internet?
Your 8520 supports Wifi, that is much faster then your cell service.
Ah yes, sometimes I forget that even exists on OTHER Blackberrys
my wifi doesnt work, it comes up as connected but doesnt like get the green tick? just the bar.
Didn't you have it working last month?
boost your home coverage | UMA network coverage for businesses | Orange business
Nope, i jsut gave up on it.
Doh! You get what you settle for.
mmhm, By the way it worked with another open wifi, and worked when my wifi was open.
Where did you get to before you gave up?
Im not sure what most of that, but i think ive done it all.
security type = WEP
select WEP key = WEP key #1 (that was already set as that)
and then the WEP is typed in.
i had put the WEP key straight away when i got the network.
it says its connected to the Wifi with the name on the the hoemscreen,
but my symbol isnt white and on manage connections it hasnt got a tick next to it.
You were nearly there.
You had a good connection to your Wifi router. The final step is your UMA connection to Orange UK.
Connections / Wifi Options. Menu / Wifi Diagnostics.
The first section is your Wifi connection to your router. It should show a status: Successful connection.
Scroll down to the UMA section and check the status error message. That message should let your carrier's support desk make the final setting to enable UMA.
I always look at the diagnostics looking to see if i can make sense of it,
okay so UMA says..
UMA Wi-Fi available, ticked.
Connection, crossed.
error code is blank.
but status says...
"ISP or wireless network error.
That is it, the error is occuring at your carriers end."ISP or wireless network error.
Call them and ask to be transfered to the technical group that supports UMA. They are the ones that can make it work.
is that the only way to do it though?
an how come it works with other Wi Fi's then?
it could be the encryption type of the router maybe, or your bb just doesn't like it.... is this thread hijacking lol ?
