UMA works great on my T-Mobile Bold 9780. I tried the Bold 9900 and WiFi Calling sucks on 7.1 compared to UMA. Is the Curve 9360 built with real UMA or is it the new WiFi calling software featured as on all the other os7 Blackberries?

Would love to get the new Bold 9790 when it is released but the 9360 looks good on TMobile for now.

Would battery performance be on par with the 9780 or worse when used the same?

    Thanks for advice!

It would be a little bit better than the 9900 on battery.
It does have wifi calling on 7.1. I'm sure it will be great once it becomes official

I haven't used UMA ever, but if you are referring to the Mobile Hotspot feature that is the additional feature in OS 7.1, it does not let you call anyone. It is used for sharing your mobile device data on another wi-fi enabled device.
Apart from this, I don't remember any wi-fi calling feature on the 9360 pre or post OS 7.1 , but I may be wrong, since we don't have UMA feature available with our service provider in the first place.

2ndly the battery on your 9780 will work twice as much ( or atleast 1.5 times), as on the 9360.

The T-Mobile 9360 does indeed support UMA the way the older BB devices did. The difference is that there is a problem with the handoff from WiFi to T-Mobiles 3G network. Since they can't guarentee that it will work the way it did with the older devices on Edge they have labled it WiFi calling. Calling over WiFi works but it may not hand off to the mobile network so calls could be dropped.

There have been reports that sometimes it works fine and other times not.
