    Hi everyone,

There is an update available for my phone (Curve 8530) - Current version is 5.0.0.459, Can update to 5.0.0.654. However, when I try to download it, it says there may be a charge for the download. Has anyone had experience with Sprint actually charging for the updates (this is a wireless update, BTW). If so, how much and is this update worth it?

    Thanks!

Call them and verify because no one else charges for OS updates (I have ATT for example and my son has Tmobile). You should be able to download to your PC for free from BlackBerry too.

I think they mean if you don't have a data plan then you'll be charged data usage for downloading the update. There should not be a charge for it if you are upgrading it normally.

Exactly what freethisberrydotcom said. No carriers charge for a BB OS update unless its a scam or fake site. The charge they are talking about is if you do an OTA update, it will be be charged against you if you go over your data plan limit unless you have unlimited.
