They have no way of knowing (if it is replaced with a white tb of course). I think you are reading about folks doing it with the bold - seeing as I dont have a bold there might be a way to tell if that has been opened? I dunno, with a curve I dont see how anyone could tell...... Lets see what the official gurus say......
Yes, it does void the warranty technically but you can't tell with the trackball, just keep the old one if you need to turn it in, takes every bit of 10 seconds to replace...
The way this was explained to me was that it is considered a user
replaceable part and therefore has no effect on the warranty.
Same as the battery, battery door, screen cover. As long as the
phone has not been opened the warranty is fine.

ag how would they know if ya opened up ya berry any way ?
Spoke with CS just a few ago "It will not void the warranty" emailed my friend @ RIM just for the heck of it - "it should not void the warranty, they wont/cant ever know anyhow" so as already covered in the thread.
My personal advice still stands, they will never know, they cant - if its white. As AG stated if the phone is never opened then the warranty stays intact.....

Thanks for doing that Tre. Way to go the extra mile
