I want to cut the SIM card to size of MicroSim so I can try it in another phone. To put it back into 9900 I will need an adapter.
I heard some adapters damage the contacts, so I am looking for someone who successfully used and removed a card with an adapter.

You don't need a adapter, just slide the small micro sim card in so that the bottom copper contacts are matched with the devices three contacts.

Micro sim is a scam, it should fit use a tooth pick to get it out.

I used a micro sim back and forth between another device and my 9900. The micro sim without an adapter sometimes shifted and I lost my signal. So, Yes, I'd recommend using the adapter.

Take a look at this article. This was nano to micro, but most of the same info applies: How to install a Micro SIM card or iPhone 5 Nano SIM card into the BlackBerry Z10 | CrackBerry.com

Do not use an adapter it will damage the SIM tray and that is expensive to repair. I know because it happened to me. Just use the micro SIM, line it up and use a piece of tape.

You 100% don't need the adapter, I cut my regular sim car and placed in the iphone 5, and then in a z10 it works. You just need to position it right.

The adapter can bend your pins.

I've used an adapter for quite a while in my Bold 9900 and never had any issues. As long as your careful and go slow then you should't have any issues.

But always know what you're getting into and do it at your own risk

use a quality adapter...I've been using them since they nano SIM came out with no issues, the contacts only bend if you use a cheap adapter....incorrectly

Roger that. I used a SIM adapter on one of my Berries and it damaged the SIM tray contact fingers. It pulled them out when I removed the SIM adapter because the finger contacts got stuck between the SIM card and the adapter tray. And I removed it carefully.

I really wish Blackberry used the latest nano SIM so that frustrated iphone users would be tempted to try BB10. Motorola on their Moto X had gone to a nano SIM. But I digress.

I use the tray with scotch tape instead the piece of adhesive tape come with it. No problem. The original one is too thick, will damage the connectors.

Fair warning. I've seen a few people put the SIM adapter back into the device without the SIM in it... this is a sure fire way to bend the pins. And to be honest, the only time I've heard of an adapter bending pins.

This is great, lots of good information.
I will check with AT&T and see if I can just pick up a MicroSIM and get my account transferred over. I really did not want to cut my current one, although I do have a spare SIM. I guess it also needs to be sanded to make it thinner (or this is for Nano sim?), so it's best I just get a Micro Sim from carrier first.

Is there a tape on it? Or just the micro-sim alone?

I don't think you understand, that's a picture showing you that you don't need a adapter to use the really small super micro sim card that is used in iphone 5's.

The z10 and most other phones use the medium sized micro sim card, but you can use the iphone one if you place it in correctly like my picture shows.

    No adapter needed.
    No tape needed.

Yes, it uses a Micro SIM card. Same as the Z10 and Q10.

Let's be a little technical here...
"really small super micro sim card" = Nano SIM Card
"medium sized micro sim card" = Micro SIM Card
Mini SIM Cards are what devices like the 9900 and 9780 took.

Thanks, I also thought he didn't understand although he thought I didn't..
Ideally you would need a tape or something since Micro Sim is smaller than Regular (Mini) Sim. It is narrower and shorter, therefore there is a room for some play, but if it fits snug, then it may not move, however everyone's SIM slots may not be as tight, hence possibility to require tape to hold it in place.

I 100 percent agree with this because it happened to me I have no problems with my nano sim with my q10 until I put the adapter into the phone without the sim card inside it and when I took the sim adapter out ripped all the pins out and the sim card reader was destroyed.
