My Z30 is better than two of my wall hugging friends.....

Similar situation. I have a niece that has a Verizon iphone 5s. I have a Verizon Z30. I live in a very low signal area and my Z30 can hold a 4GLTE signal with 1-2 bars and doesn't drop calls. Whenever my Niece comes over to visit me she always complains that her iphone keeps losing signal or keeps switching to 3g and the internet is dropping or very slow. We have a close friendship and I make fun of her phone all the time.

Little doubt in my mind. Blackberry device always have better reception. iPhones are particularly poor, so many examples I have forgotten most of them. Its not clear to me why iFans put up with that crap and demand better.

This is 100% true. First hand experience in Paris. Top floor of an apartment inside court yard. Samsung SG4 with no bars. My Z10 had signal and was able to makes calls. Loaned my phone to my cousin so she could call her friend.

With my iphone 4 I couldn't get a phone call in my bedroom nor in the back of the shop, now easily 3 bars signal and not a call droped.
So I see a difference in daily use with my Q10.

Its down to Antenna design and Modem combination.

I used to work for UK carrier, and had access to terminal testing and in-life performance reports.

The great news is that all the BlackBerry smartphones that were ranged, and the limited data of devices that wasn't, came out as top performers in terms of low numbers of Drop Call rates, sms transmission failure and PDP session timeouts.

Followed very closely by Nokia and Sony.

Unsurprisingly, Apple, Samsung and HTC faired moderate to high, with the worst performer being the iPhone 4, followed by the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini.

Interesting. What steps have you taken to resolve this issue as it appears you are one of a small minority claiming these problems.

There are some brilliant people on this Forum who could work with your to resolve this issue.

What don't you start by listing the name of your carrier your phone version and OS version?

Probably best to start a new thread dedicated to this issue as you may get more traffic on it.

    Good luck.

Don't know if it's true but my z10 is pretty accurate with my wifi. My girlfriend uses her iPhone at my house, and if my Internet gives out her iPhone doesn't notify her. It shows her having wifi service but never actually connects. My z10 always notifies me if I lose wifi service. That's just my personal experience though.

Don't pay attention to the amount of "bars" look at db signal strength.

    From a PCMag article,

I tested the Z30 on Verizon's network in New York City to see how it bore out in real world usage. As it turns out, it seems BlackBerry might be onto something here. I tested in three locations: one street location with poor service, one street location with good service, and once in the basement of our office where there's typically no service. At the street location with poor service, the Z30 showed an average signal level around -52dBm (closer to zero is better) and network speeds around 0.7Mbps down and 0.5Mbps up. At the same location, a Galaxy Note 3 showed -94dBm, 0.15Mbps down, and 0.15Mbps up. In the area with good service, the advantage was less dramatic, though. The Z30 showed -42dBm, 2.66Mbps down, and 0.89Mbps up, where the Note 3 showed -73dBm, 2.24Mbps down, and 1.3Mbps up. In our basement location, the Z30's signal strength fluctuated from anywhere as good as -73dBm to -107dBm, but it was able to actually make a call on the first attempt without ever dropping out. The Note 3 showed around -108dBm, but was unable to make a call from the basement.

The fact remains you are more likely to be able to get connectivity with a BB10 BlackBerry than any other mobile. Bars or no bars.... end of story.

There was a major improvement in reception with z30 from using the z10 before. Z30 is solid. I think the q10.has the paratek as well

We have a big tech publication here in Germany that actually runs scientific laboratory tests for reception quality when reviewing smartphones, splitted by frequencies and standards (GSM/2G/3G/4G). BlackBerrys reception quality by these tests is almost always > 25 out of 30 points, iPhones, HTC Ones and Galaxys usually sitting between 20 and 25 max.
Do you have a link? I would like to see it! It is in German? Possibly I can in any case look at the graphs...

Ive heard that almost all of the BB10 devices feature special paratek tuning software, and the Z30 actually has a physically better antena. But yes, these two solutions are miles ahead of the competitions cellular signal, which is oftentimes laughable.

I remember reading on CB that an Australian mobile phone service provider actually tests devices reception in the outback. BB's always score highly. I think most people's conclusions on this subject is from personal experience. I know when one of my close friends calls from her iphone there tends to be problems. At work the two iphone users sometimes moan about poor reception when they're not fighting over the one charger. Just to add to the above post ; if I remember correctly the Z30 actually has two antennae and uses unique technology to maximise reception. This actually delayed the phones US certification I think as the certifying authority had never seen this technology before. Does BB own the Paratek manufacturer?
