We all know that BBRY is the most secured mobile phone around, even all the apps have been tested with TrendMicro for any viruses before being introduced. So, do we need to install antivirus? I did downloaded/bought Max Mobile Security and everytime scannning process completed (which take hrs) no (or never) virus detected.
So, do we really need antivirus protection for BBRY phone?

Depends on each person use habits.

Android is tightly embedded in BlackBerry 10 (so we can assume that an Android virus / malware app could do some damage) - and Android apps from unknown sources can now be easily installed. Someone downloading *.apk files from all over the place might need an antivirus app. I just don't know if there is a good one in BlackBerry World, I didn't use an antivirus app on my phone.

No. It is not needed for the device/OS itself.
However, if you are the type to download Android apps from various unknown sources, and never connect to your PC or do backups, you may want to have it to check the on-board APK files that you download to your device.

If you do utilize your PC, you can always scour the drives with you PC AV software.

Also, since an AV is not really needed for the device itself, you may want to configure Mobile Max to only check your APK folder.
That's what I do, and it only takes 5 minutes to check. I don't even run it headless because it would just be another app taking up resources.

EDIT: FYI. AV is only needed for APK files or apps from outside sources.
You don't need to run your AV to check your whole device. Takes too long just to find nothing.

I always scanned any file/apk I installed on my trusty old i9100 (Samsung not BB)... and to tell the truth I never encountered a virus...

NB, scans performed with Avast online scanner.
