NFC, Mobile Hotspot, nicer looking, less laggy.

Plus it's just the latest. Might as well. Upgrading from OS5 to OS6 to me was a pretty good improvement.

NFC=youll be able to wave your BB by keypad stations, instead of using your ATM/credit card, and pay for things at stores, gas stations, etc. With hotspot, you're able to turn your BB into a wifi spot. Create a password and can connect up to five devices to internet such as your laptop or tablet. Most carriers will charge you extra for it though. You also now have pinch to zoom and tab browsing in the browser. Though the latter one was already available in OS6.

asides from looks, then really absolutely nothing.

actually os7 should have really been os5. more specifically os7 should have been what os 4.6 was. this excludes the company letting hp get hold of web os.

but the dual-core ceo's didn't feel like innovating and revamping the os because the company has been so successful.

    what a pair of idiots.

nothing against rim my beef is just against the dual-core ceo's

The web browsing is completely different. OS6 and 7 have an awesome webkit browser as good as any system. Huge difference.

OS 6 was a "quantam leap" over OS 5

RIM looks forward to a ‘quantum leap’ with BlackBerry OS 6.0 -- TecKnowLogic

RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis trumpeted enhancements including an improved WebKit-based browser, a customizable homescreen, a revamped media player and a more intuitive user experience
OS 7 (or 6.1 as it was originally known) was a "major upgrade" over OS 6
•"The demand in interest in those products is amazing."
    •"It's a very substantial enhancement."
    •Jaws will drop.
Jim Balsillie Says BlackBerry OS 6.1 is a “Major Upgrade” - BerryReview

OS7 brought NFC, wireless hotspot (although not intitially, but rather 6 months later, and for some, still waiting on it), and "liquid graphics" ie gpu acceleration.

I bought a torch at the end of 2009 with os 6 on it. My buddy bought an android phone about the same time. I felt his was much faster. He has replaced his phone 3 times this year, and with the update I have gotten, my phone is much faster than his current one. I have used the 0s7 and it is much like os6 but just better in all ways. Speed, browser, interface, etc... I think that os7 is just much smoother.

Because RIM does not want to add it.

Wait for the "new" curve and put os5 on it. You will love the processor speed.
